Life updates in the past month or so

Greetings!

Back again after 1.5 months. August will be here in 3 days... πŸ₯Ά

Anyway here's a list of what's happened since my last update in June:-

  1. Fei bought tickets to BKK and booked our hotel accommodation! Are we really flying out of Malaysia's border soon? πŸ₯Ή It's been... 7 years since our first BKK trip in 2016 and I never returned to BKK at all.
  2. Celebrated Fei's 30+2 πŸ˜† (had to pause and do the math mentally to get Fei's age πŸ˜‚).
  3. Brought mummy to one of my favourite ramen place in KL and she liked it!
  4. Met up with ex-boss (who's now the Deputy Law Minister) for lunch together with mummy lol and met YB Yeo Bee Yin and family during lunch.
  5. Celebrated Mummy's birthday.
  6. Both mummy and I attended our first concert together at Genting's Arena of Stars and mummy was happy (I think). πŸ₯³
  7. Milestone achieved: 1 year anniversary of moving down to KL.
  8. Inter-floor leakage issue cropped up and yours truly was fucking pissed off with the residence's Management Committee.
  9. Found out Cheryl's Chase likes Fei and kept sticking to him during our walk up and down Pearl Hill.
  10. Brought mummy to vegetarian dinner on the actual day of her birthday at Bodhi Tree which was our first try and we both loved it.
  11. Milestone achieved: 1 year anniversary at work.
  12. Had a quick gathering with Wen and Poh cos Poh was back for her brother's wedding. Wen met Poh's boyfriend for the first time hahahaha.
  13. Tried out this new ramen place at G Hotel called Kanada-Ya (from Japan apparently) but I wasn't impressed.
  14. Attended our work department's first physical quarterly meeting and had to take pictures for the 1-year anniversary celebration. Thank god for face masks.
  15. Celebrated our 16th anniversary. πŸ₯° Dinner was yum and Fei had 2.5 pints of Connor's stout afterwards.
  16. Fei tried Five Guys finally and I ... tried their fries. πŸ˜‚
  17. I also tried the milk tea from this shop called NUTTEA at Pavilion and it's reaallllyyyy good! The milk's really nutty coupled with the tea it was really fragrant! But I was damn full after that because Fei had to pattern, wanting to drink GongCha and didn't want to share my Nuttea with me. 😠
  18. Dropped by TRX to explore the place a bit and managed to catch the pretty, pretty sunset skies. πŸ₯Ή

***

Fei is back in Penang this weekend so it's hang-at-home day. Did my chores and felt very accomplished because I completed everything I wanted to:

  1. Did laundry.
  2. Did a 45-minute workout.
  3. Cooked lunch.
  4. Netflix-ed a bit before getting started with chores.
  5. Wiped the windows etc. Vacuumed and mopped.

Also started watching The Witcher last night! The show reminds me of the Game of Thrones lol. Henry Cavill is such an eye candy. Deep voice. πŸ’“

Okay that's about it I think. Gotta go continue watching The Witcher.

Nights peeps. Wishing everyone a good August ahead. ✨

Hello, Mid-Year

We are nearly approaching the middle of the year already... 5 more days to the 15th day of the sixth month.

What have I done or accomplished in the first half of the year? To be honest... I think I was just striving to survive most of the time lol. I don't really dream big and I'm contented with where I am right now at this point of time. Maybe I will want more in the next year. I don't know. Let's just leave things be and move with the flow.

***

Finally went back to Penang for 3 weeks in May after 3 months. I think that's the longest gap I haven't returned to Penang since moving down to KL so far. :') Didn't get to hike much though :( Shall try to hike more in the next trips.

***

Anyway today's also bro's 26th birthday. 26th 😬 He's turning 30 in 4 years' time and I'd be 35 by then wtf. Scary thoughts.

Oh well. Time flies. Chronos gives no shit. Let's all age gracefully and peacefully.

***

Solitary shopping day tomorrow. I shall enjoy my me time happily.

Oh and I also picked up my renewed passport last Saturday! Thank god for the smooth process. Very important to have a "Lulus" online passport renewal application. Please do all you can to ensure or secure a higher chance of "Lulus" results while submitting your online passport renewal application (e.g. photo format etc). Makes a whole world of difference. Thank you Buddha and KuanYin. :') But if your issue is the fingerprint issue then... sorry. No choice. Gotta go wait together with the others. But still faster than those who did walk-in renewals, I guess.

Till next time. Goodbye.

Embracement

Good day, Friday.

Fei came down last weekend for so many days, I was so happy. Fei arrived on last Thursday, and left on Tuesday morning. All thanks to the Raya holidays. :)

Fei is coming down again this weekend! Also another long weekend, but this time I get to be off work on Monday too cos it's Labour Day! So I get to spend an extra full day with Fei!

NOT.

Fuck my life. Woke up this morning feeling weird - base of my nose had that same feeling when I first caught Covid. Felt uneasy. Knew I had to get the self-test kit done but I was chicken. :( Because what if it turns out positive again? Will I die earlier from catching Covid twice? I won't get to see Fei this weekend! I won't get to spend my long weekend with Fei where I actually get to be off work on a Public Holiday! And I went to the office yesterday and had lunch with my colleagues... what if I accidentally passed it to them? Although I never had any symptoms before this morning... :'(

Got up from the bed, did the test. Saw a shadow at the place where the second line is if you're positive and thought I saw wrongly. Then the line came out. Everything came crashing down again. Just like the last time. I didn't know what to feel. Couldn't cry. Wanted to cry. At least I would've felt better if I just cried. :(

I don't get to see Fei this weekend anymore.
I don't get to spend my long weekend with Fei. δΈη”˜εΏƒ.
I went to the office yesterday and had morning coffee + lunch with my colleagues.
My plan of driving back home next week.

All these thoughts flew by my brain. :( Couldn't lie to myself that the test kit is faulty.

Texted my manager, texted my work buddy, texted the colleague whom I had morning coffee with. :( Felt so bad. So much guilt. They all live with their families and one of them is traveling back to her hometown tomorrow to spend time with her parents. :( What if they caught it too because of me? :(

I tried tracing back where I would've caught it. But couldn't tell.

Bro has been sneezing and blowing his nose the past few days. I asked him to do the test when he woke up this morning and he said it's negative.

Where did I get it from? Why me again? :( I don't even go out that much, except for the weekends when Fei is here. :( And when we're indoors, we put our masks on. :(

The only silver lining is... I caught it in KL here, without mummy being around so she isn't exposed to the virus again.

Why though? :'(

Think I'm gon go crash in a while...

Why me?

Update @ 7.34pm - I think God is consoling me for feeling down... my passport renewal application has passed!!! After 934801293820935834095890 attempts at fixing my photo... πŸ₯²

Thank you Buddha and KuanYin.

Simple Happiness

As I start typing at 12:56pm, I'm waiting for my egg to be done steaming. Let's see what time I am ready to click Publish later.

Ok it's 1.39pm and I am just chilling after lunch and washing all the dishes.

It's April. 😳

Appearing here today on a Wednesday because GC is off-work for Ching Ming today! Aside from holidays that fall on Mondays/Fridays, I also love it when holidays fall on Wednesdays. Cos it's midweek! And once Wednesday is over you only have 2 days of work left until the weekend. Hehehe. And I was successfully converted from a Contractor to a FTE with effect from the last Monday, 2 days ago! πŸ₯³

Anyway I also signed up with ClassPass last month and so far I've tried yoga, pilates and boxing. Things I wouldn't have tried if not for ClassPass. Lol. Boxing is actually quite fun - but I was so sore for about 2 days after. Reformer pilates is good too but so expensive. Boxing and reformer pilates use up the bulk of the credits - like 8 or 9 credits per class. Blurgh.

On another note, I'll only get to see Fei after 2.5 weeks because it's Penang week this weekend, and next weekend Fei's flying to BKK. :( It's okay I'll occupy my weekend with ClassPass and house chores.

Ok jumping topic again - last Sunday when we were at IOI, Fei caught me this meow from Aeon's mini claw machine! Wanted the calico one but couldn't get cos the positions were all unhelpful. :( So we tried this grey one and Fei caught it! So kiut hehehe. It's imported from Japan and RM10 was spent in total including the card rental fee of RM2!

Hung the meow on my bag and sent it to a bath yesterday morning. It's all squeaky clean now sleeping on my bed with my octopus hehe.

By the way, puasa has started and Hari Raya will be here in 2.5 weeks! I will never get tired of saying this... time flies too fast.

It's now 2.06pm. Till next time.

"How's KL life?"

Hello, March.

Feels so weird that Ramadan will be starting in less than 2 weeks. Which means, Raya is just another 1.5 months away. Too fast, Cronos.

I should be making a trip back to Penang soon, but the thought of driving 4.5 hours makes me feel so tired already. #ageing. Think it's mainly cause of the multiple trips I made in November-January. Drove back to Penang mid-November last year, came back early December, went back again to Penang mid-December for Wen's wedding, came back after a week, then went back to Penang again mid-January for CNY. Too much of long distance drive in that 2 months.

People ask, why not take the flight or the train? Because I can control my own time when I drive. And I can bring more stuff if I need to without worrying about any restrictions. 😬

Anyway, I digress.

Friends have been asking me, how's KL life so far? To be honest, I don't know why but this is such a difficult question which I always fail to answer. I always get lost in my own thoughts while trying to process my thoughts and feelings of moving down to KL after living at home in Penang, having mummy around everyday for 30 years (basically the whole) of my life.

Since I have the time now, maybe I'll try to break it down and see what I can come up with lol.

Moving down to KL means...

Being independent. You do everything yourself. Which is not a problem for me. Things you don't know, you learn. Things you know, you will get better at it, because now you have to do it yourself. πŸ˜‚

Plenty of me time. On some days, it feels quite nice to have your own space (though I don't own the space πŸ₯²). You get to do things at your own pace, at your own time. Like now, as I'm writing this.

Exploration. You get to explore more places which you wouldn't have if you are only down in KL for a road trip of a few days. For example, we - as in Fei and I - visited Zoo Negara. πŸ˜‚ We also visited the KL East Park for a hike last Sunday! And also, more restaurant/cafe choices with high reviews on Google Maps for you to try out.

More bills. Rental (great if you already have a place ready and don't need to rent a place). Utilities - TNB, water bill (fucking expensive, trust me), IWK and whatever else you are required to pay per your Tenancy Agreement if applicable, e.g. simple house maintenance like lightbulbs. Groceries. Etc.

Can't think of anything else at this point. Perhaps it's because I live a mundane lifestyle. Hahaha. Nothing exciting. I also don't go chasing after an exciting lifestyle so... 😬

But so far, KL still doesn't feel like home home. Sometimes when I visit KLCC and Pavilion BB, it still reminds me of that nostalgic feeling of our past road trips to KL. That happy feeling of knowing you are on holidays, you know. Lol.

So... KL life to me is just basically being independent with a lot of me time, and more bills to foot. Nothing much special.

Till then.

The next time I return, Ramadan would've probably started. Slow down, Cronos. Chill.

Testing waters

I'm back.

I figured I'd need to continue writing somewhere properly (not just on-the-go Dayre) so that I can at least maintain my writing skills since I've left practice and won't get to write lengthy submissions (detest this) to practise my English anymore.

We shall see for how long I can keep this up...

So far, I've lived in KL for approximately +/- 8 months, and I'm still as boring. I only stay at home during the weekdays, unless friends ask me out for dinner. If Fei comes down to KL, we'll head out on the weekends. When Fei goes back to Penang, I'll only head out on Saturday, and stay home on Sunday, just like today. Even writing this feels so boring. :') My life is so mundane. But I'm happy like that. Going out actually takes effort. I prefer to sloth at home.

Anyway, remember what I said in my last post: "Next thing you know, Raya is here lol." - I was proven right by NSK πŸ˜‚ So we went to NSK for grocery shopping on Friday night, and they're already having a "Pre-Raya Sale" mini fair. Lol. Raya falls in April this year, so puasa will start in March. And it's already the end of February now.

I need to go make myself lunch now. It's 1.12pm. Meh.

Before I go, here's a picture of my breakfast this morning - heavenly good sourdough doughnuts from this place called Halo introduced by Han yesterday during our outing:

Yum.

Still Alive

Greetings!

Wah I haven’t been back for so long. I didn’t realise I’ve left my blog unattended for so many years. I mean… I am aware that I haven’t logged in to my blog for the longest of time… but it just didn’t dawn on me that it’s been 4 years. My last post was in 2019. Before 2020. Whut?

So many things have changed since.

Covid-19 – initially called the Coronavirus – happened. Movement Control Order (MCO), Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) etc happened to curb the Covid-19 spread. All forms of travels were banned in the beginning.
Life happened.
Started doing HIIT exercises during the first round of MCO and maintained this till now, though less frequently as I got lazier... 🫠
I am now a “fiancΓ©e” – the proposal happened. To the same man who was my boyfriend though. This one thing did not change. πŸ˜‚
I started practising Intermittent Fasting (IF) whenever I can, though never strictly.
I caught Covid-19 nearly 2 years after its first outbreak. :(
I started hiking again after years of hiatus.
I turned 30.
I left practice.
I moved down to KL.
Mummy turned 60.
Wen got married.

Anyway, we’ve just entered this new year not too long – CNY just flew by followed by V Day, and March is creeping around the corner. Next thing you know, Raya is here lol.

I’ll see if I can manage to rekindle my love for blogging in the near future… I’ll try to do it. Just to recap the events of my life (what events? πŸ˜‚) for memories’ sake so that the aged me can come back to this blog to have a read in the future and be reminded of how dull and mundane my life was back in the days.

Till then.

2019

Today is the 2nd last day of the year. Of the decade. From 2010-2019. I'm 27. Time flies. Can't stress on this enough.

2019 has been 50:50 good/stressful. I hope 2020 will be better.

In 2019...

1. Turned 27.

2. Received my first bouquet of flowers from Fei for my birthday hahaha.

3. Went for 4 short trips: Phuket, Melbourne, Hatyai & Genting/KL.

4. Celebrated our 12th year and entered our 13th year!

5. Tried proper Korean cuisine for the first time just yesterday thanks to Yi Min haha.

Can't think of anything else significant this year. My life is boring haha. It gets even more boring as I age. Oh well.

Edit:

6. Just remembered last night that we SAW KUMAR THE SG COMEDIAN TWICE!! Kumar was in Penang 2 years ago when I was chambering and I missed it because of my stinginess haha...... So this year we went for his show and no regrets!!! Saw him the 2nd time during the Penang Bar Dinner a month and a half ago. Haha.

As for the past decade from 2010-2019...

1. Passed A Level; LLB; and CLP.

2. Attended 4 convocations: my LLB convo, CLP convo, Fei's convo & bro's convo! Hahaha.

3. Grew 10 years older.

4. Travelled to Melbourne,  Ipoh/Cameron Highlands, Malacca, Langkawi, KL, Singapore, Bangkok, Hatyai, Genting, Phuket since 2014 to date.

5. Called to the Bar!

6. Officially converted into an Apple user.

7. Dyed colorful hair ends.

8. Started baking.

9. Lost weight at one point, which is a point that I can never return to. :(

10. Ever since I started working, I've traveled to BM, SP, Alor Setar, Grik, Kulim, Taiping, Butterworth for courts. Haha.

As I age, mummy is ageing too. :( My wish is to bring mummy to somewhere nice for travel, which, hopefully can come true soon! Oh well.

Happy New Year 2020 everyone!!

Melbourne photolog

Back for another travel photolog update before the year ends! 2019 is really coming to an end haha. Entering a new decade in less than 2 days time. How time flies, really.

Bought SIA air tickets to Melbourne in May after realising it's only RM1800+! Was excited over landing in Changi hahahaha. Mummy and bro departed from Penang a week earlier than I did. Was home alone for a week but Fei came to accompany me. πŸ˜πŸ’› This was also my first time travelling solo internationally hoho!

This trip to Melbourne is a very chilled one. Walked around the city, went on the free city tram, had good food, visited the 12 Apostles!!! Surprisingly I didn't manage to shop for clothes hahaha but I managed to score 2 pairs of shoes!

While waiting for my PEN-SIN flight... was feeling grumpy because did not receive goodbye kiss. 😾

Penguin watching on the first night I arrived in Melbourne! SO CUTE!!

Croissants in South Melbourne Market! Baked fresh everyday

Then I saw this: apparently pandan is Malaysian vanilla hahaha. Cute description.

Had some latte while enjoying our croissant, and I got excited when I spotted cotton flowers! Hahaha.

We had cakes in this cafe called Bibelot and it's good!

Yeema asked me to choose 2 and I had a damn hard time choosing because flavours vs physical appearance?!

Yay! Finally checked in to the Brighton Bathing Boxes!!

All hail the siew yoke! Yeema baked this herself 😁

Highlight of the trip! Checked in to 12 Apostles!!! Total of 6 hours journey fol. But it's rock gorgeous. The view, the weather, the temperature, everything was perfect.

Had the best sui kow soup EVER.

Tried more croissants! This was Lune Croissanterie. Loved the croissants! I could eat it for breakfast, lunch & dinner everyday...

CITY WALK!! I love! I love strolling in the city actually but with our weather here in Malaysia it's impossible because I hate getting sticky and sweating. So I enjoyed strolling in the city a lot! And especially in that 15c weather omg. Perfect.

Victoria State Library. πŸ’› Also managed to see the Magna Carta there. 🀩

Yeema took me to try the black truffle XLB. πŸ˜‹

Also ordered fried XLB.

Here's a picture of dwarfy us... hahaha. Must-not-miss pancake place!

Jewel @ Changi. πŸ’›

Mummy bought me my first GA at Changi!! LOVE IT. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

It's a rather short photolog because I am too lazy to upload so many photos already... I get lazier as I age haha. It's only a 7-day trip for me anyway. Happy I was there at the end of winter! It was cold but I loved it!! I wonder when will my next Melbourne trip be haha. I hope it's not too far away. Maybe 2 years time?

Phuket getaway photolog

Christmas is upon us again! I've been gone for a long, long time... Been updating my daily life on Dayre which is much more convenient since I can just update on the go wherever I am so long as I have internet connection. But I won't give up on this blog since it's still a part of my life hahaha.

Fei suggested (read: urged; forced) sometime in February (omg it's ages ago) that we should go for a holiday in Phuket, Thailand during the long weekend in May. I was reluctant because (1) it's an island and I'm already living on an island; (2) IT'S FREAKING HOT AND I DON'T WANNA GET ANY DARKER; (3) I don't wanna spend money. =_= Of course my refusal and reluctance was disregarded and Fei went on to do his research and book the flight tix and hotel.

We were there for 3 days 3 nights... because we departed arrived at the Phuket International Airport at 8.30pm Thai time on 19/5 and were back in Penang on 22/5 close to midnight lol. We went island hopping, rented a bike and visited the Big Buddha, and chilled in the resort for a day. We didn't head to the town area so I have no idea if we'd missed anything fun there. Hahahaha. We stayed in Avista Hillside and it was awesome. Fei was very happy with the choice he made lol.

Night 1

(L) The resort lobby in the night. (R) Welcome drinks & refreshment for us.

Our room was huge but we were cautioned to not open the balcony door to prevent mosquitoes from flying in. They also lighted a jasmine scent burner for us.

Unpacked our bags and crashed at about 1am I think and we had to get up at the latest by 6am because the transfer for the island hopping was gon come pick us up at 7-7.30am omg.

Day 1

Island hopping day + Big Buddha! We woke up late wtf. And we were late for our Klook transfer for island hopping hahahaha the driver was waiting for us I'm sorry. Thank god I had the brain to only take patisseries from our breakfast buffet and got the hotel staff to pack it in a box for us so we can eat it on the way. Hahahahaha.

Hated island hopping cos I had to get my feet wet and be under the sun. Hated the motor ride to Big Buddha because it was 1-hour long under the sun. Luckily Thailand has 7-11 like everywhere otherwise I would've died of dehydration.

Headed back to hotel at about 5+ to explore the resort for a bit before heading out again to street market hahaha. Also dropped by Jungceylon Mall in the night because the street market was just opposite!

First island stop was Khai Nok Island, and lookit the waters!!! I haven't in my 27 years of life seen such clear waters!!!

There's also a cat on the island.

And then it rained. So we were seeking shelters under this hut where this cat is resting. It couldn't be bothered with us... Fei kept disturbing it. The rain went away as fast as it came.

Second island stop was Khai Nui Island, which is basically a very small island without land for us to step on. It was just a place for people to snorkel lol.

Third island stop was Khai Nai Island, and look at how peaceful it is. We walked all the way towards the end and we were rewarded with this view. No mad crowds, no kids jumping around. Just us!

Panoramic view of a quarter of Phuket from Big Buddha's viewing point.

We were sweating like mad cos the sun was scorching hot and burning us but if it weren't for such weather we wouldn't have seen such beautiful scenery of Phuket.

(L) Street market's food stall and (R) my basil fried rice from 7-11!!!

That basil fried rice is definitely the best I've ever had. IT'S SO SPICY AND FRAGRANT. I don't mind the basil even though I don't like basil because it tastes damn good?! I don't know how they do it. Lol.

Day 2

Day 2 was just lazing in the hotel day... Fei (who was attacked by the flu bug πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„) went to return the motor we rented and took a motor taxi back hahahaha.

Then we just basically lazed around, watched the TV, and finally went to explore the whole resort. And at about 4+ we changed into our swim suits and went to the pool!!! The resort has 3 pools hahahaha so we were excited cos the pools are so pretty wtf.

And in the night, Fei ordered room service for dinner. πŸ™„

They had 6 choices of drinks available for the breakfast buffet and so many choices of patisseries! My happy place hahahaha.

You'll be greeted with this once you step into the resort.

And this is the view from the lobby.

(L) Resort's lobby toilet. So pretty?!?! (R) Walkway to the resort's spa. So peaceful and quiet...

Pool #1. Fei's first experience dipping in the pool hahahaha. This pool though was a lil creepy cos there were only the 2 of us there and it was super duper quiet, as if it had been totally isolated. :/

Pool #2. I LOVE THIS POOL!

Pool #3.

Yes, we hopped around 3 pools hahahaha. Damn stupid la but we had fun doing it. Attempted to teach Fei to swim but he wasn't even listening and the angmo lady was laughing at him. I gave up.

The food was good but I think there's room for improvement la on the presentation lolol. It's too simple for a 5* hotel I think...

Day 3

:( Had our breakfast, packed our stuff, checked out, left our baggage with the hotel and went to Jungceylon Mall again haha. And at about 5pm, our airport transfer pickup arrived at the hotel and we left for the airport. :(

Win liao lor this kind of service.

The weather that day was very gloomy and it drizzled. We were sad that our holiday ended so quickly too. T_T

We also went for After You!!! It was in the new mall opposite of Jungceylon, Central Phuket.

DIS IS THE BEST TOAST EVER!

Why are the toilets in the Thai malls all so pretty?!?!

(L) Us in Central's lift hahaha. I thought that the marble floor tiles were pretty. (R) Finally had our first try on Dairy Queen! And it didn't disappoint! :D

And one last photo before we left. :(

This trip turned out to be a much needed break because prior to the trip I was trying to rush and finish up 81 witness statements and 30 over additional bundle of documents... Was so stressed to the point I told Fei he might have to cancel the trip cos I didn't think I could finish them. I wasam so burnt out.

Sigh. At this point of time I'm just happy I survived another year and that Christmas the season of joy is here!!! Thank you Fei for the trip πŸ₯°πŸ’›
